Online EMC Numerical Simulation - Towards a Collaborative Project

Salle : Saulnier

Numerical simulation tools for EMC design have improved significantly (features, speed, and memory size) in the past 30 years. However, the use of such tools for full-system EMC simulations has not progressed proportionally in the automotive industry. In most cases, this fact is not related to the capabilities of the simulation tools themselves, but mainly due to technical and industrial issues such as intellectual property protection issues, large system simulation and multi-scaling issues, completeness issues, incompatible model import/export formats issues, lack of data and representativeness, etc ... This project aims to develop a new concept of EMC numerical simulation, based on a collaborative approach over the internet, in order to overcome these unsolvable technical and industrial issues currently encountered with conventional numerical simulation approaches. The goal of this project is to be able to run a co-simulation over the internet between a system integrator and several component suppliers, or between a component manufacturer and several chip suppliers, without communicating / exchanging / sharing the models between industrial partners, using different types of electrical / electromagnetic models for each partner, different type of numerical simulation solvers (electric, electromagnetic) for each partner, different numerical simulation software / editors for each partner and without modifying the existing models (only interfacing).
